Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search box passes directly to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the query and returns its response. Ringgold County Criminal History does not keep a separate log of those search terms.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email or other direct message may be retained long enough to answer and maintain the related correspondence. It remains within the operating team unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
Normal server and analytics logs collect basic technical details when a page loads:
- Page-view dates and times
- The referring website, when one is supplied
- Pages viewed and approximate time spent
- Device type and operating system
- Browser name and version
- The device's assigned IP address
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. They support analytics that show broad traffic patterns, such as popular pages and common exit points. A browser can block or remove cookies, although some functions may then work differently.
What We Do With This Data
- Route a submitted query to the selected search partner
- Diagnose errors and performance problems
- Measure which material visitors use
- Operate and improve page speed and availability
- Display advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Ringgold County Criminal History does not maintain, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It publishes directions to the sheriff, Iowa District Court, the Iowa Department of Public Safety Division of Criminal Investigation, and the Iowa Sex Offender Registry. The site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor data is not turned into a consumer report or a third-party criminal profile.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Their privacy terms, retention periods, and disclosure practices govern the data entered there. Review the provider's policy before sending a query because this policy does not control that processing.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to government offices, court portals, agencies, legal resources, and commercial tools. Once a visitor leaves this site, the destination's privacy rules apply. Review them before providing personal information.
Advertising companies may use their own systems to recognize activity across websites and select ads. Their tracking is governed by their policies.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be disclosed to:
- Analytics vendors measuring traffic and performance
- Search providers processing a query submitted to their tool
- Advertising networks serving content on the pages
- A government or law-enforcement body acting under a valid legal demand
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable security measures protect data under our control. No internet system can promise absolute security, so a breach can never be ruled out completely.
Users Under 18
The site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. A verified request concerning a minor's data will be addressed promptly.
Your Data Rights
Applicable law may provide rights over personal data. Iowa Code chapters 22 and 692 govern public records and criminal-history dissemination by public bodies; they do not turn this private site into an official record custodian. Subject to valid legal and operational limits, a visitor may:
- Request deletion of personal data held by the site
- Ask that inaccurate personal data be corrected
- Request access to personal data associated with the requester
- Object to certain processing where the law provides that choice
Updates to This Policy
A revised policy becomes available on this page and carries a new effective date. Visitors should review the current version when they need to understand present practices.
